Will owners and top-managers of machine-building companies rule the world?They call this man a "Russian Bill Gates of machine-building". At a time Microsoft operating system, developed by Bill Gates revolutionized computers and by and large changed the world. Today "Intelligent Manufacturing" doctrine stated by Russian scientist and production expert Radislav Birbraer in his "Principles of engineering consulting" book is capable of causing similar revolution in machine-building industry around the world. When in the 90-s Russia research institutes were shutting down Birbraer established SOLVER company essentially designed as a research center for solving manufacturers' problems. Back then it seemed sheer madness. Company's scientific and engineering base was located in Voronezh, branch offices were opened in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Izhevsk and Omsk. Dear readers! You are looking at the first issue of "Balance Intelligent Manufacturing" magazine. Our mission is to create a virtual club of owners and top managers of industrial companies accompanied by scientific and technical elite and industrial lobbyists. We would like to launch the discussions on industrial modernization, theory and practice of acting in terms of global competition. We identified our target audience as "manufactures". In terms of modern manufacturing theory and methodology I share the approach of Russian expert Radislav Birbraer expressed in his recent work “Principles of engineering consulting”. Birbraer outlines four levels of industrial enterprise as pyramid, in the base of which is production. The next levels are pre-production followed by accounting and management. And at the top is strategy development and marketing. The technology that helps to balance the levels of this pyramid for increasing global competitiveness of the business as a whole is the key to “balance intelligent manufacturing” concept.
